Our doctors meet every new patient with a one on one consultation where your family and personal health history are assessed. These discussions continue annually thereafter. Given your individualized risk assessment, your doctor may talk to you in further detail about what cancer genetic testing is available or appropriate. Most women with a family history of cancer do not carry any genetic mutations. Additionally, there are cancers other than breast and ovarian in your family which may prompt your provider to discuss your risks further.
