A cervical or endometrial biopsy is a diagnostic procedure that involves examination and removal of tissue samples from the cervix or uterus after potential abnormalities were detected during a routine pelvic exam.
During the procedure, a small microscope is placed at the opening of the vagina to magnify the area for close inspection. Your doctor may remove one or more tissue samples for further examination. Biopsy is helpful in detecting cancer and other serious conditions in their earliest stages.
